Concerning languages, I think the definition is too broad. For instance, although Mongolian is an official language in one Chinese province and is still spoken by many Chinese, one would never speak of "Chinese alphabet" for the alphabet of this language. One the other hand, one can speak of "Chinese food" made by a Singaporean citizen in Paris.
