Maybe we should separate ball from sphere? I believe the mathematical definition of a sphere is "A round surface created by all the points located at equal distance -the radius- from a reference point -its center-.". (notice that it does not speak about dimension).

Mathematically speaking, a ball is "a tridimensional sphere in an Euclidean space". (and it's what we call in everyday life "a sphere". By adding it as not exact synonym, we would have it as "approximate meaning" for sphere...)

Problem: None of these definitions is understandable before high school or by people that were not listening during math classes :o) How does OmegaWiki handles scientific definition versus common sense? Eden 15:22, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

After some reflexion, maybe we should withdraw "round", because the future definition of "round" will probably be something like "Shaped like a circle, a sphere or a cylinder", I guess. It's a little bit recursive (not really, but it looks like it is). Eden 02:16, 18 April 2007 (EDT)
