DefinedMeaning talk:kite (390670)
The definiton "A quadrilateral with two pairs of equal adjacent sides, which diagonals are perpendicular." basically just describes a kind of... quadrilateral, and from reading it I get no clue that it actually talks about a plaything. I suggest to change the (English) definiton to something like: "A kite with a quadrilateral frame that has two pairs of equal adjacent sides and perpendicular diagonals." Besides, the English word "kite" means, AFAIK, all kinds of kite and therefore should not have the "identical meaning" box ticked. If there are no objections, I am going to change these two things. --dh 20:25, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Or shouldn't kite be a translation at all and be an hyperonym instead? --dh 20:30, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- This definition is indeed only about the geometrical parallelogram also referred to as a kite, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kite_%28geometry%29.
- The one definition you are talking about (the plaything) is the following DM: DefinedMeaning:kite (389831), and I agree that its definition can be improved (but I am not sure how). --Kipcool 20:44, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, is it? Wow, I thought it the whole DM was about the plaything. Hmm, then the German translations seem to be wrong, at least one of them. I'll check that. Thanks. --dh 01:04, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
