Last year, I thought this was a defined meaning different from the one of "common noun" I then created. But I rather think now it's just a mediocre definition. Firstly, this definition includes names. "France" is also "A word that can be used to refer to a person, place, thing, quality, or idea" as well as "John" is. Secondly, a common noun can refer to "things" absent from this list, such as a period, like "year", an animal, like "monkey", an event, like "birth", a state, like "illness" etc.. Thirdly, a table is a piece of furniture, not a noun. "table" is a noun. The former has feet, while the latter has letters. The same for the 2nd example given: a computer, which is not a noun either. So I suggest we replace the present definition by the one of DefinedMeaning:common_noun_(1304360) and merge the two definedMeanings. --Fiable.biz 14:37, 21 August 2012 (CEST)
