- I think a Schuster does both, make and repair. --Tosca 19:55, 29 October 2006 (CET)
I propose to formulate the definition as "A person whose profession is repairing footwear".
Another meaning is approximately "A person whose profession is making footwear as a handwork". Andres 11:46, 29 October 2006 (CET)
- I think the first one is a good definition -Rappo 17:32, 29 October 2006 (CET)
- So I'll translate it to other languages.
- Then we need another DM for 'A handicraftsman whose profession is making footwear'. The German definition currently covers both of them. Andres 17:51, 29 October 2006 (CET)
The definition in language "est" (Estonian) is out of sync.
Yes, currently it is out of sync. You know, there are three kinds of cobblers: some cobblers both repair and make footwear, some only repair it and some only make it. Of course, we might write "repair or write", and this would cover both of them. However, there also are expressions which mean only repairing cobblers or only shoemaking cobblers. So we should create defined meanings for them, and then probably "cobbler" would be a synonym for both of them. So maybe it's better to create three DM-s here. By the way, the Dutch van Dale dictionary doesn't mention making footwear at all. Andres 01:25, 30 October 2006 (CET)
