DefinedMeaning talk:spade (392023)
I don't know what the original intention of this defintion was, but it definitely is not the correct one for en:spade or de:Spaten. In spite of the translations, it seems to describe a en:shovel or de:Schaufel, but there already is a DM for that. Therefore I suggest to adjust the definition to something like:
en: A tool with a stick and a flat area with a more or less sharp edge that can be pushed into the earth with the foot.
de: Ein Werkzeug, mit einem Stiel und einer flachen Fläche mit einer mehr oder weniger scharfen Kante, das mit dem Fuß in den Boden gestossen werden kann.
and remove en:shovel from the translations. I also suspect that translations in other languages have to be removed (and maybe added to the other, above mentioned concept), like schop and schup for example.
Besides it appears to be the same as DefinedMeaning:Spaten (525509).

- The new definition that you suggest (earth-related) is exactly the one at DefinedMeaning:Spaten (525509) (that I have translated into English)
- I agree with you, i.e. that spade/Spaten do not fit here, and that the current DM is the same as DefinedMeaning:shovel (8359). Therefore, they have to be merged. --Kipcool 14:58, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
