DefinedMeaning talk:tear (6805)

Tear is constantly produced by the eye, not just when it is irritated or when crying. I suggest the following definition to reflect this fact:

Clear, salty liquid secreted by the eye to clean and lubricate it, and released in greater quantity with strong emotions (like sorrow), by yawning or when the eye is irritated.

On second thought, the definition is OK. We need to distinguish between the liquid and the drops that consist of this liquid. The definition given here is for the drops. In English "tear" is used in both meanings. Strictly speaking the tear drops are made of lacrymal fluid. --InfoCan 21:35, 20 October 2012 (CEST)
