Meaning of wry[edit]

I am not 100% sure of the meaning of "wry". I think the following discussion [1] is pretty relevant.

There, it is said that wry is very close to sardonic, but is not the same in that there is also a bit of regret in "wry". It is also not always making fun of someone, or nasty towards someone.

The following wry humour is cited in the above link:

"The sun's gone in, and it's started to rain"
"Oh, sounds like we're going to have a lovely picnic then!"

In [2] wry is translated to French as narquois/narquoise. However, it doesn't help me to find a better translation to Spanish.--Ascánder 05:28, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
