DefinedMeaning talk:zebra (7849)

From OmegaWiki

There are three species of zebras plus one extinct species. Taxonomically they form a subgenus. I think this should be mentioned. "An animal" isn't enough. Andres 19:27, 28 October 2006 (CEST)

Then the scientific name of the subgenus should be added. Wikipedia lists two subgenera (see w:Equidae). --Ortografix 14:57, 29 October 2006 (CET)
In w:Zebra it lists one subgenus containing all species of zebras. It seems that there is no standard view in taxonomy and we cannot rely to it. Andres 15:09, 29 October 2006 (CET)
Then I propose to list all species and describe their common traits.
By the way, such expressions are ambiguous between a specimen and a taxon (in this case, any individual zebra and any individual species or subspecies). True, I guess the expressions coincide in most languages so that perhaps different DM-s are not needed but, in any case, the definition should mention these nuances). The proposed def is excellent. Please proceed. Siebrand 00:02, 30 October 2006 (CET)
Right now I can't do that. Andres 01:27, 30 October 2006 (CET)
