[edit] Penis

The problem with putting this as a synonym is that it isn't an exact synonym. It's kind of "is more vulgar than" - does that make sense? —Celestianpower Háblame 00:54, 16 July 2006 (CEST)

A male bird.

This definition seems to be to be incorrect. Is not a cock a male bird of the any of the species belonging to the bird order Galliformes (Swedish: WiktionaryZ:hönsfågel)?--Sannab 15:06, 21 July 2006 (CEST)

  • I think English resembles German here. German translation "Hahn" refers to (1) not exactly a species. It is broader, covering all animals wearing feathers commonly bred on farms, excluding male ducks (Enterich) & Geese (Ganter). (2) in hunting, biology, veterenary, etc. any male bird. Seldom used, afaics. If "Hahn" is used at all, then it is synonymous to "Männchen" i.e. male (literally "little man") and it is usually only used in immediate context of the other gender, and/or possibly the species. Also it seems to apply more to some than to other birds. Likely there are regional variations of use, too.
