This article is made as an "experiment. It cannot be deleted at this time.. :(

I have replaced "a parent" which could be ambiguous (given that it also designate any member from the same family) with "one of someone's parents" (same that was employed in grandfather's definition) which should make it clearer. To clear any further ambiguity, "father or mother" could be used instead, if that is thought not to be sufficient... Ce`dric 19:25, 4 August 2006 (CEST)

Need to disambiguate[edit]

This article (grandmother) needs attention because:
need to disambiguate
It has been added to this category for attention. Thank you for your patience.

In Turkish there are separate words for "maternal grandmother" (anneanne) and "paternal grandmother" (babaanne). I propose to split "grandmother" into two DefinedMeanings:

  • DM1: Mother of one's mother.
Eng: maternal grandmother
Tur: anneanne
  • DM2: Mother of one's father
Eng: paternal grandmother
Tur: babaanne

Any objections? --InfoCan 21:51, 18 March 2012 (CET)

There are already DMs for "maternal grandmother" and "paternal grandmother", but I guess you've seen that already since you've translated them ;) --Kip 16:22, 20 March 2012 (CET)
You are right. No need to change anything. --InfoCan 17:20, 20 March 2012 (CET)
