Attention|The Italian definition "Zona di una città in cui é vietata la circolazione dei veicoli" suggest that the English word "island" is used as synonym for "pedestrian zone". Is that correct? --Ortografix 10:31, 8 April 2007 (EDT)

This is correct as it is a homonym.. This is not a problem when you look at it from a DefinedMeaning point of view. GerardM 11:01, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
The question is if the English word "island" really has that meaning. I do not know it. --Ortografix 13:04, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
This seems to be a confusion with the meaning of an island as "an area in the middle of a street where people can stand on". Tosca 14:39, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
Now the expression "pedestrian zone" and some of the translations (e. g. Fußgängerzone have two identical DM (with slightly different definitions that mean the same). --Ortografix 07:13, 9 April 2007 (EDT)
