Help:Topic

(Redirected from Help:Topics)
What is a topic[edit]
A topic, or subject, in OmegaWiki is used to indicate the field of knowledge to which a particular DefinedMeaning belongs. For example: Biology, Chemistry, Linguistic, Mathematics, ....
Often, the definition is ambiguous, and sometimes useless, if the topic is not indicated (for example: "derivative"). Therefore it is important to indicate a topic.
In general, one DefinedMeaning should have one and only one topic. If a word seems to belong to two topics, maybe it should be divided into two distinct definitions.
The list of topics is a limited set that has to be discussed and agreed by the community. It is always possible to add new topics. You can propose them there.
A topic is not a class[edit]
The aim of a class is to allow to add specific attributes. For example:
- Paris belongs to the class "city" which could allow us to indicate that it is in the country "France".
- Paris has the topic "geography"
