Welcome to OmegaWiki. This project is many things to many people. The initial aim is to provide information on all words of all languages. As a consequence of the origin of OmegaWiki, it includes both lexical, terminological and ontological information. Our data is available in a relational database, as a result it is possible to use the data for many purposes.
Our information is available to you in one of the languages you can select in the user preferences. When we do not have a translation in your language, we aim to provide it first in English and then in whatever language is available.
When you feel inclined to help us expand and improve our data, the first thing to do is create a Babel template on your user page. This helps us understand your comfort with the languages you know. To understand the basics of OmegaWiki, we ask you to read the article about the DefinedMeaning. You are bound to have questions; these can be asked on the Wiki or on IRC.
We are always looking for people who have an interest in helping us develop our functionality. The OmegaWiki software is an extension to the MediaWiki software and is available under the GPL license.
Our community data is available both under the GFDL and the CC-by license. It is up to you to choose what license suits you best. OmegaWiki is a collection of facts and as such individual facts cannot be copyrighted. Collections can. By providing our data in this way, we require you to provide a pointer to our data. This will inform people that they can come to us to expand and improve the data we provide.

| Wiki para Profissionais
|
Within domains, within professions the terminology used is often as bewildering as in a natural language. To appreciate the full depth of a concept it is often necessary to understand it in relation to other concepts as they are understood in that domain. Within OmegaWiki we concentrate on the basis information, in the Wiki for Professionals data specific to the domain will be maintained.
A successful Wiki for Professional will have its own community, it may require specific functionality. This is something that we welcome in our project as long as it fits within the overall environment.
