Should we write worts partly "bold and party "normal"? Regards user:Gangleri | Gangleri 20:13, 14 March 2006 (CET)

Expressions need to be written normally ie no bolding. The point is that people infer meaning to it and pronounciation for instance is NOT standard in a way that this makes sense. GerardM 09:45, 16 March 2006 (CET)

Only language related boxes allowed[edit]

For your information the Babelboxes are a tool, boxes with no relation to what we do will be deleted.. GerardM 09:41, 16 March 2006 (CET)

Yeah rigth. You accomplish one hundred percent to be not understood. GerardM 06:43, 5 June 2006 (CEST)

Babel(-n)[edit]

Is there an advantage in not using the variable Babel template used on several other wikis? I guess most people would prefer {{Babel|en|de-1}}, rather than having to specify sperately the number of languages ({{Babel-2|), and in this case some extra mysterious argument (which I won't look up as the page takes too long to load). Aliter 03:15, 5 June 2006 (CEST)

Yes there is. The Templates everybody works with are not ISO-639-3. We standardise on ISO-639-3. Furthermore, the codes everybody knows are project codes not necessarily language codes. GerardM 06:42, 5 June 2006 (CEST)
Is the code-0 syntax active? arg-0 for example, in the this article. Downchuck 04:16, 17 July 2006 (CEST)
No. GerardM 08:38, 17 July 2006 (CEST)

xxx-5 vs xxx-3[edit]

While I believe that I have eng-3 (and never eng-4), I feel that I also in a category of eng-5 (use the language in my profession). What should I use ? Do the -n indicates the continuous level ( n+1 is always better than n ) ? Or it is not necessary ? -- Bact 15:50, 28 July 2006 (CEST)

No, it means that you should have professional knowledge of that language, see here for detail.--Shakura 01:11, 16 August 2006 (CEST)
No Shakura, sorry, I believe there is a misunderstanding - you can well be a professional user of a language and have proficiency 3. Consider translators that often know a language passively or only in a very specific domain. So level 4 would not be appropriate, but they nevertheless translate from this language to their mother tongue and therefore they use that language for profession and should indicate level 5 and level 3.--Sabine 01:27, 16 August 2006 (CEST)
Then Babel/Levels xxx-5 definition should be changed, because it condradicts with that on the main Babel page.--Shakura 12:22, 16 August 2006 (CEST)

xxx-0 ?[edit]

There is example as arg-0, but there is no explanation for level 0. Still level 0 could be useful for user who has just began studing language for example. --Thv 12:31, 29 September 2006 (CEST)
