[edit] Interrogations about OmegaWiki
- How should we deal with words that are not assigned to a specific language, but are international, such as chemical symbols?
- They may be "international", but they are also accepted as valid in each language that accepts them.
- How to add specific language stuff (conjugation, declensions, ...)
- That is functionality that is in the data design. We have an idea on what it will look like but this will materialise when the time is there.
- How to match classificators in Chinese (no equivalent word in French/English, therefore, no corresponding DefineMeaning)
- There will be a DefinedMeaning consisting of a Chinese Expression and a Chinese Definition. So when there is no exact translation in English French, that is ok
[edit] LingoZ vs Omegawiki
Functionality seen on Oct 4 2007
- Definitions. In LingoZ, definitions and synonyms are mixed. Many definitions are in fact a list of synonyms. In OmegaWiki, they are 2 separate things = much better
- French defined as "Français, langue parlée en France; le peuple français" = 2 definitions mixed...
- License. OmegaWiki uses a free license, anyone can reuse the data freely (by respecting the license), and download the database in Development. In LingoZ, a word you add belongs to LingoZ. Their data are not free
- Registering. Adding comment in OmegaWiki is possible without registering, while it is not possible in LingoZ. Thumbs down are also impossible without registering. Modifying a definition needs registering in both cases.
- part of speech only in OW
- example sentences only in OW
- IPA only in OW
- ... I don't get why people dared comparing these two...
