Tip for my user page[edit]

Thanks for the tip! Rod A. Smith 01:31, 25 July 2006 (CEST)

WZ sources[edit]

I'm interested in helping with pesky little WZ dev tasks, so I need to get the right version of the sources. Would those be the out-of-the-box MW 1.6 and the WZ extension? Rod A. Smith 03:06, 27 July 2006 (CEST)

I made a tarball for you of the current OmegaWiki codebase and database (MySQL 5.0), you can find it at

Getting it up and running should be reasonably straightforward:

1) Decompress the tarball into a directory on your webserver, preferably /wz (the path is hardcoded in one instance: the header of skins/common/wikibits.js).

2) Create a MySQL database and import OmegaWiki.sql from the tarball.

3) Adapt LocalSettings.php - change $wgDBname and the account data accordingly.

4) Visit localhost/wz (or whatever). You should have a user account "Admin/admin" which can be used to edit OmegaWiki records.

Let me know if there are any issues, and if you get up and running, I can give you some small tasks to work on.--Eloquence 08:46, 28 July 2006 (CEST)

Thanks. It's set up and running. I still have some relatively minor configuration issues (like my Windows IIS server only serving links of the form "http://localhost/wz/index.php?title=TITLE" instead of also serving "http://localhost/wz/TITLE" and my debugger not attaching properly) but it is functional, including editing articles so I can deal with those minor issues as I go. With what task shall I begin? Rod A. Smith 20:03, 29 July 2006 (CEST)
By the way, you probably already have the change in your version, but I had to change the two places in code that attempted to insert into the text table. There isn't a default value for the old_flags column there, so I have the code use $dbr->addQuotes() to set the field to Revision::compressRevisionText($text). Hopefully that was the right thing to do. Rod A. Smith 06:16, 1 August 2006 (CEST)

I hope you had a good trip to WikiMania. Should I sync up to the current code base at or keep the older code base you sent me? Rod A. Smith 03:41, 15 August 2006 (CEST)

Deutsches Interface[edit]

Hallo Erik!

Ich habe auf Portal_talk:deu ein paar Bugs im deutschen Interface angemerkt, daraufhin wurde dann von GeraldM angemerkt ich soll dich damit belästigen. --Mkill 17:15, 30 July 2006 (CEST)

I just realised there now his page history on wz. Whooooo! /habj 20:12, 9 September 2006 (CEST)

Insect room[edit]

Hi Erik, could you please take a look at the Insect room and comment from a developer perspective on the issues? In my opinion issues remain without feedback (from either the user or the developer) for too long. Thanks, Siebrand 09:54, 17 November 2006 (CET)

Kannst Du Das bitte kommentieren? Danke. 14:23, 12 December 2006 (EST)

New version[edit]

Thanks for the update! I've modified MediaWiki:Sitenotice/fr, but it doesn't show up. I have the French interface, but I see the English version of Sitenotice on top of the screen, while I had it in French before the update (I think). Any idea? Kipcool 09:48, 5 February 2007 (EST)

This appears to be the standard MediaWiki behavior.--Eloquence 12:56, 5 February 2007 (EST)
The same applies to MediaWiki:Sitenotice/nl. I am sure OmegaWiki used to have sitenotices per language. HenkvD 14:39, 6 February 2007 (EST)

All of your links result in 404 error page ... Thanks anyway for this page ^^ CreatixEA 14:37, 5 February 2007 (EST)

Yes. It says so right at the top. :-) Will update in the coming hours.--Eloquence 15:52, 5 February 2007 (EST)

Hi, there seems to be a problem with annotations. The produced list for grammatical classes contains strings like charset=UTF8, etc. instead of the classes. Bye. --Ascánder 15:09, 5 February 2007 (EST)

Thanks, I've been looking into that. Some weird issues with annotation ..--Eloquence
Heh, it was trying to split an error page into substrings and putting them in the select box. Should be fixed now.--Eloquence 19:35, 5 February 2007 (EST)
Fixed. Thanks. --Ascánder 23:33, 5 February 2007 (EST)

Anybody can edit relational data[edit]

now, anybody can edit the relational data, see [1] (another problem: all ips are the same for anybody). The tab says "view source" instead of "edit", but clicking on "view source" takes you to the edit page, and the save button actually works. Thanks Kipcool 10:24, 7 February 2007 (EST)

This is fixed. The "all IPs are the same" problem is related to the firewall configuration of the network and beyond my control, but will hopefully be fixed soon.--Eloquence

parser functions[edit]

I was hoping we had parser functions such as {{#if:a|a|not a}} available after the upgrade. These are handy to make emplates such as those for the portal pages remarkably easier. --Purodha Blissenbach 10:09, 8 February 2007 (EST)

New version[edit]

I am screening my contributions in the new version. I have lost contributions after 12 jan 2007. Is it possible? By -Massimop 02:52, 9 February 2007 (EST)

'Development' page[edit]

Hi, Erik. In the Development page, you don't mention having an installation of MediaWiki, just Wikidata. Isn't a MediaWiki installation needed? Thanks, Malafaya 05:25, 18 June 2007 (EDT)

DM, notions, database et tutti quanti[edit]

would you have a look at user:spir/Notion ? And tell me what you think about it.
