Language links[edit]

On each "picture entry" I suggest that links to existing dictionary pictures in other language are added. This isn't because somebody is using the English interface that he is not interested in the dictionary picture with the French words for example. Thanks, Amqui (talk) 22:48, 27 May 2013 (CEST)

Links to other languages are already available on the left sidebar, where interwiki links usually are :) --Kip (talk) 08:57, 28 May 2013 (CEST)
First, how do you add one? I have created the Mi'kmaq version of the Body parts picture, but I don't see the interwiki for the mic version. Second, I still think they should be more visible on the page itself. Thanks, Amqui (talk) 16:29, 28 May 2013 (CEST)
They are automatically generated when a page exists with the right name, but they are based on MediaWiki codes (not ISO 639-3 codes). Basically, they are the languages for which an interface is available. "mic" is correct, as I see that the same code is used in the incubator. Maybe I just need to upgrade our version of MediaWiki.
More visible is possible, but then you have the usual problems: 1. you need to maintain the list (probably it would be placed in a template) and 2. when the list becomes long, you tend to want it to be less visible...
In the future, I plan to have a dynamic version where we would have only one page, with translation on the fly, and a language selector on top. More on that soon I hope :) --Kip (talk) 16:57, 28 May 2013 (CEST)
Indeed, mic is the right code, but there is no Mediawiki interface available for that language. We need to investigate how to make it work for languages that didn't (and maybe won't) translate the Mediawiki interface. I agree with the rest of your comment ;-) Amqui (talk) 18:41, 28 May 2013 (CEST)
I found a way to add Mi'kmaq to the list - using http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/$wgExtraLanguageNames :-) --Kip (talk) 19:58, 31 May 2013 (CEST)
Good :-), but I still think the language links should be more visible on the page itself. Amqui (talk) 06:16, 1 June 2013 (CEST)
